Terms of use
Short, because the site is simple: it publishes pages you may read, quote and link to, and a form you may use to ask us for a quote. There is no account to open and nothing to subscribe to.
Using the site
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it — there is nothing further you need to do, because we are not holding anything of yours.
What you may do with the pages
- Read, print and save them, for yourself, your board, your clients or your students.
- Quote them with attribution to quoroom.org and a link to the page quoted.
- Link to them freely, from anywhere, including from commercial material. You do not need our permission and you do not need to tell us.
- Copy the statutory text without restriction — it is an edict of government and belongs to no one. See the legal notice.
What you may not do
- Present the pages as official. This is not a government publication and the statutory text here is an unofficial reproduction.
- Present them as legal advice, yours or ours, to anyone.
- Republish the commentary as your own work, or sell it. Quoting with attribution is welcome; wholesale reproduction under another name is not.
- Automate retrieval in a way that burdens the server. Reading the site with a crawler is fine at a human pace; hammering it is not, and we will block it.
- Use the enquiry form for anything but an enquiry — not for bulk messages, solicitation, or anything unlawful.
An enquiry is not an engagement
Sending the form starts a conversation. It does not retain us, does not oblige us to take the work, and does not oblige you to give it to us. We may reply with a quote, with questions, or with a straight answer that we are not the right fit.
An engagement exists only when both sides have signed something that says so and that sets out scope, fee and dates. Until then nothing on either side is owed. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance.
The deadline calculator
The calculator counts statutory intervals back from a date you type. It applies the ordinary rule for each interval; it does not know your governing documents, which may impose longer periods, and it does not know whether a date falls where your association's own rules place it.
Treat its output as a sketch of the calendar, not as a schedule you can rely on. Check it against the sections it cites and against your own documents before anyone acts on it.
No warranty
The site is published as it is. We take care with it, we date every page so you can see when it was last checked, and we correct errors promptly when they are reported. Beyond that we make no warranty, express or implied, that the content is complete, current, accurate for your situation, or fit for any particular purpose, and no warranty that the site will be available without interruption.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law permits, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on anything published here — including a missed deadline, a voided election, or a dispute that follows from either.
This limitation concerns the free reference published here. It does not limit anything we owe you under a signed engagement, which is governed by that engagement's own terms, and it does not exclude any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Links out
We link to the Legislative Counsel's publication and to a second source used for verification. Linking is not endorsement of anything else on those sites, and we have no control over what they publish or how they change.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of California, and any dispute about them belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in California. That is also the law the site describes, which makes it the sensible choice rather than an arbitrary one.
Changes
If these terms change the effective date at the top changes with them. Using the site after that means accepting the version then published. The current version is dated 10 October 2026.
